Mashed Potato Martini?

After reading the title of this post, you’re probably thinking “what on Earth?” That’s exactly what I thought when I saw mashed potatoes in martini glasses on Saturday at my cousin’s wedding. I was very confused during dinner, when my mother brought me a martini class filled with a solid food rather than a liquid, so I headed over to the buffet line to see what exactly was going on.

To my surprise, I found a mashed potato martini bar. It was really cute. As the guests walked up to the bar, they were handed an empty martini glass to scoop mashed potatoes from the buffet dish. Next to the mashed potatoes were four extra large martini glasses filled with cheese, bacon bits, sour cream and chives to top your potatoes.

After I got home from the wedding, I had to know more about this mashed potato martini charade. Needless to say, I found out that my cousin wasn’t the first bride to think of this concoction. The mashed potato martini bar is a unique catering option that has recently become a widely popular wedding trend. It is a simple and efficient way to serve potatoes, yet it is peculiar enough to impress your guests and leave them talking.

The mashed potato martini bar was a huge hit at my cousins wedding. Make sure to ask your caterer about this idea, and you’ll be sure to amaze your guests at your reception.

I saw these at a wedding in Houston for my student-teacher a few years ago and totally forgot about them. This was an awesome idea and could only be topped by a Nacho cheese fountain!
