Laura + Eric’s Texas wedding featured a literary theme, Texas cuisine and an incredibly well-stocked bar. I love the way they incorporated their favorite book titles into their table settings, using souvenir bookmarks as placecards. You can tell this was a fun (second) celebration for everyone! Diana M. Lott Photography shared their story with us…
From Diana - This was Laura and Eric’s ’second wedding’ – they had actually already gotten married in Ohio but wanted to have a second wedding with friends and family in Austin and they picked Mercury Hall, one of my favorite venues. I loved all the chalkboard menus and the literary theme! The bowl of champagne that made the rounds kept things going thru the dance party that night (great DJ!) – everyone was having so much fun that the cops had to stop by after 11 to tell us to take it down a notch!
From the bride – Eric and I got married twice! We had the best of both worlds – a small, “traditional” wedding in Ohio, followed by a laid-back party in Texas with our family and best friends. We met while in law school in Austin, so we chose to celebrate our marriage there at Mercury Hall. We only spent four months planning the party (my mother-in-law single-handedly planned the family-only wedding in Ohio), and, with a lot of help from my mom, friends, and local vendors — and a LOT of help from my amazing husband — everything turned out exactly as we envisioned. We renewed our vows in a short and sweet sunset ceremony officiated by our friends, and then kicked off the evening with a well-stocked cocktail hour. Back when we met, we built a strong bond on strong beer, and you can see from the kegs of Old Rasputin and Shiner Bock that we fully embraced that history. Everyone enjoyed a plentiful selection of the finest BBQ and Tex-Mex Austin has to offer, and then we spent the night having fun and dancing under the Texas night sky.
